Post No. 104: For Our Mission In Life

(Image from Laity Lodge Youth Camp)

Our Mission In Life
(Or, "On Earth As It Is In Heaven!")

Our mission in life is to keep working toward a
much better tomorrow and an end to all sorrow!

For, if we all work toward being lovin' and givin',
our reward will be life "on earth as it is in heaven!"

"I am no barrier to its sun; the light and I are as one!"

My Poetic Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem was inspired by the 1986 motion picture (movie) "The Mission," about the experiences of a Jesuit missionary in 18th century South America, which was written by Robert Bolt and directed by Roland Joffé. And this poem was also inspired by the movie's soundtrack "The Mission: Music From The Motion Picture" which was composed, orchestrated, conducted and produced by Ennio Morricone and, specifically, by the song "On Earth As It Is In Heaven." (Please see the hyperlink below for the video.)

And this poem was also published on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer."

This poem was written in Portland, Oregon.
