"Eight Seconds"
Sometimes, it takes a lot of preparation to create
something that causes a great deal of excitation!
And it is good to realize this, as you sweat away,
knowing that your efforts will pay off someday!

My Poetic Notes:
The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem is a reference to a video that I saw on the making of "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" when they were talking about the scene during "The Empire's trap" where the Rebel Alliance is engaged in battle with The Empire and ships are flying past each other really fast! That particular scene lasts just a few seconds, however, it actually took about two months to shoot and edit! [I used the phrase "8 Seconds" from the motion picture (movie) of the same name to illustrate that point, but I utilized the word eight, rather than the number 8.] And I remember a comment by one of the special effects artists, who worked on that scene, saying something like, "It was really weird seeing two months of work go by in just a few seconds!"
And this poem was also published on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer."
This poem was written in Portland, Oregon.
