Post No. 141: For, "I Have the Ocean in My Bones!"

(Image from The Sag Harbor Express)

"I Have the Ocean in My Bones!"

For those who feel—deep within their bones—
the strong pull of many different time zones,
please be aware, that way out there, there
be "Vessels That Dare!" For afloat they be,
out upon the sea, in the shape of wonderful
sailing boats, and ships and vessels-o-plenty!
So, grab yer sailing gear, and yer "Salty Mates
O' Fun" and let us steer our way outta this
here port and—then—on to the next one!

My Poetic Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: "I Have the Ocean in My Bones!"

By the way, I feel like I need to explain this poem some more, since I have never actually traveled on the ocean! In fact, I don't even know how to sail! And I haven't even been anywhere near a dingy! It's just that I really believe in past lives, or reincarnation. So, I really feel like I used to be a sailor in one, or more, lifetimes—and that is why I feel like "I Have the Ocean in my Bones..."

And this poem was also published on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer."

This poem was written in Portland, Oregon.
